Kaley Gauvin, Psy.D.

My passion for health began while earning my undergraduate degree from Michigan State University where I studied global health, bioethics, human culture, and psychology. Later, as my interest in holistic health deepened, I launched my own business as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. It was through this work, alongside years of my own healing experiences, that I developed my knowledge and respect for the profound role that complementary/ alternative medicine, nutrition, lifestyle, and psychotherapy can have as it relates to health and healing.

It only makes sense, then, that I chose to specialize in Health Psychology when completing my doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from William James College. The mind and body are one, and it is my belief that therapy should reflect this. I enjoy working with individuals with complex, chronic illness—particularly those that are often misdiagnosed, contested, or overlooked by the conventional medical system. I have a special interest and research background in environmentally-acquired illnesses, such as chronic Lyme disease and mold-related illness, as well as chronic pain and autoimmunity.

I take great joy helping patients advocate for themselves within healthcare systems, while nurturing the psycho-social impacts of navigating health challenges such as problems with mood, anxiety, body image, relationships, and health behaviors (e.g., eating, sleep, exercise). Tending to trauma is an integral part of the work I do, as I support individuals with re-connecting to their emotions and their bodies, and regulating a nervous system overburdened by chronic stress.

My expertise lies in providing evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with an integration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotions-Focused Individual Therapy. For clients with anxiety, disordered eating, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), I am also trained to provide Exposure and Response Prevention therapy—the “gold standard” evidence-based treatment for OCD.

My style is warm, sincere and compassionate, which I blend with a direct and action- oriented approach to help you create the change you wish to see. My mantra in therapy is “one step at a time” as I encourage and empower my patients forward in ways that feel approachable. I’d be honored to help you take your next step.
